Thanks guys, I'll give the trial version a try. You just have to launch Nik from a smart object in PS then you can go back and make changes inside the smart object. You can do this on the old version of Nik as well. I wrote to DXO's tech support and they said they were working on it. You need to go into the file menu and load it manually. 3 doesn't do it automatically even when you activate the preference that should make it happen. Version 2 would automatically load the Selective tool whenever I launched PSCC. For very wide angle images (11 or 12 mm), it did a better job than making the adjustments in LRClassic. The new perspective adjustment tool seems pretty good in my limited testing.

I found it to be worthwhile, although I thought about whether to upgrade from v. That's the question.īecause there are so many filters, it is best to get the trial version and see if you think the upgrade is worth it depending on which filters you use the most. I don't mind paying for something if it has something to offer. And BTW I had the suite before Google acquired it and paid $250 for it. In other worlds how improved is it over the Google version other than DxO trying to capitalize on a very popular product that Google once gave away for free.

Not worried about spending $90 bucks now I'm interested in finding out if it worth paying for period seeing I already have the free Google version. I find it buggy, I recommend frequent saving totally crashes my photoshop sporadically, the support had no solution.
Now I believe that you can go back and pick up where you left off.
With the old version you pretty much had to start from scratch after you exported. I think that the biggest "feature" of the newer version is the ability to go back and tweak an already Nik-edited file. Windows users should be okay with the free version, minus some GUI/bug fixes like mentioned above. I've heard that Mac users *had* to upgrade in order to make Nik compatible with the newer Mac operating systems. Minor issues cleared up, and they work fine with PS CC 22.0.0. I, too, had the original Nik Collection, but had a few minor issues with its functionality with recent versions of PS. If you are going to buy it, you might wait for sales before or after christmas. However with a 4K monitor the fonts are about a 1/2. I bought it for about 60$ when they first released it. Recently they added some new presets and have combined the DxO Viewpoint app into DxO Nik as an additional tool. The initial release of the DxO version was primarily resolving issues with the Google/Nik version and some OSs. If the original Nik Collection will work properly with your current configuration I do not think you will gain much from the DxO product. Not sure what kind of update occurred (but do know my Nvidea driver updated yesterday) but the 30 second hour-glass on start-up problem I was having no longer exists.

The software can still be used but it is annoying. As a result, while the software works, the menu bar cannot be seen in the normal way and there is no obvious way of changing it. Win 10 seems to have a fixed default which says that all menu bars should be in white.
The problem is that the Corel menu bar is in black with white text. Thanks for the suggestion but I have done that & it doesn't work.
